At Madginford Primary School, we believe that every child belongs. We are committed to creating an inclusive, nurturing and ambitious environment where all children are valued, respected and supported to achieve their very best.

We recognise that every child is unique, with their own strengths, interests and individual needs. Our approach focuses on removing barriers to learning, ensuring that all pupils have access to a broad and ambitious curriculum and the opportunity to achieve academically, socially and personally.

Our SEND Team

Our SEND Coordinator is:

Mrs S. Farrell – SENDCo

Mrs Farrell works closely with our Heads of School, Miss Allen (EYFS and Key Stage 1) and Miss Stamp (Key Stage 2), to ensure that inclusion remains at the heart of school life and that every child receives the right support at the right time.

Our SEND team works collaboratively with teachers, support staff, children and families to understand individual needs and provide effective support. We believe that strong relationships, early identification and a detailed understanding of each child are essential in helping pupils feel confident, included and ready to learn.

The SEND team supports staff to identify needs, plan effective strategies and monitor progress carefully. They work closely with specialist professionals and external agencies to access advice, guidance and expertise, ensuring that support is informed by the most appropriate approaches for each child.

We are committed to developing staff confidence and expertise through ongoing training, coaching and collaboration with specialists. This ensures that teachers and support staff have the knowledge, skills and resources needed to adapt learning, implement effective strategies and provide high-quality support for all pupils.

We carefully consider the resources and provision required to meet individual needs, ensuring that children have access to appropriate tools, interventions and adjustments that enable them to participate fully in school life.

Supporting Wellbeing and Inclusion

At Madginford, we know that children learn best when they feel safe, happy and a valued part of the school community.

We place children’s wellbeing at the centre of our approach, supporting their emotional, social and academic development. Through nurturing relationships, inclusive practice and appropriate support, we help children develop confidence, independence and resilience.

Every child is encouraged to participate fully, contribute to school life and experience success. We celebrate differences and ensure that all pupils know they are valued members of our school community.

The Inclusion Base

We are very proud of our Inclusion Base, which provides a calm, nurturing and supportive environment designed to help children develop the skills they need to thrive in school.

The Inclusion Base focuses on supporting children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and speech, language and communication needs, which are key areas of need within our school community.

Through targeted support and carefully planned interventions, children are supported to develop confidence, communication skills, emotional regulation and positive relationships. The Inclusion Base complements classroom learning and helps children develop the skills they need to participate successfully in all aspects of school life.

The Inclusion Base provides a supportive start to the school day for identified children, helping them to transition successfully into learning. This may include opportunities to develop routines, build emotional readiness, practise communication skills and prepare positively for classroom engagement.

Throughout the day, children may access personalised support and interventions that help them to develop:

• Emotional regulation and resilience.
• Social communication and interaction skills.
• Vocabulary, language and communication.
• Confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Strategies to support engagement and learning.

Provision within the Inclusion Base is carefully planned, monitored and reviewed to ensure that support is purposeful, effective and focused on helping children make progress.

We work closely with children, families, staff and external professionals to ensure that every child receives the right support at the right time and is able to belong, grow, achieve and thrive.

Working Together with Families

We believe that strong partnerships between school and families are essential in supporting children to thrive.

If you have a concern about your child, please speak initially with their class teacher. They will work with the SEND team to understand your child’s needs, identify appropriate strategies and agree the best way forward.

Where further support is required, Mrs Farrell and the SEND team will work closely with families and relevant professionals to plan next steps and ensure children receive the support they need to succeed.
